NMDAε1 (E-4)

Santa Cruz Biotechnology

DESCRIPTION

mouse monoclonal IgG2b; NMDAε1 Antibody (E-4) is an IgG2b κ mouse monoclonal NMDA epsilon 1 antibody (also designated glutamate ionotropic receptor NMDA type subunit 2A antibody, GRIN2A antibody, Glutamate [NMDA] receptor subunit epsilon-1 antibody, glutamate-gated ion channel protein family member 2A antibody, NR2A antibody, N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor subunit antibody, or NMDAR2A antibody) that detects the NMDA epsilon 1 protein of mouse, rat and human origin by WB, IP, IF and ELISA. NMDAε1 Antibody (E-4) is available as both the non-conjugated anti-NMDA epsilon 1 antibody form, as well as multiple conjugated forms of anti-NMDA epsilon 1 antibody, including agarose, HRP, PE, FITC and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Glutamate receptors mediate most excitatory neurotransmission in the brain and play an important role in neural plasticity, neural development and neurodegeneration. Ionotropic glutamate receptors are categorized into NMDA receptors and kainate/AMPA receptors, both of which contain glutamate-gated, cation-specific ion channels. Kainate/AMPA receptors are co-localized with NMDA receptors in many synapses and consist of seven structurally related subunits designated GluR-1 to -7. The kainate/AMPA receptors are primarily responsible for fast excitatory neurotransmission by glutamate, whereas the NMDA receptors exhibit slow kinesis of Ca2+ ions and a high permeability for Ca2+ ions. The NMDA receptors consist of five subunits: ε 1, 2, 3, 4 and one ζ subunit. The ζ subunit is expressed throughout the brainstem whereas the four epsilon subunits display limited distribution.
