DESCRIPTION
Sodium Butyrate is the sodium salt of butyric acid that has the biological effect of inducing histone hyperacetylation and the inhibition of histone deacetylase (HDAC) activity. It is reported to induce apoptosis in a variety of cell lines and induce pancreatic progenitor formation. In combination with Activin A, sodium butyrate promotes the differentiation of hepatocytes from embryonic stem cells.
