Cholesteryl homo-γ-linolenate, a cholesterol ester, accumulates in the adrenal gland of rabbits on a linolenic acid-rich diet. In HIV-infected humans, levels of cholesteryl homo-γ-linolenate decrease and positively correlate with cognitive decline.
