MFF (B-2)

Santa Cruz Biotechnology

DESCRIPTION:
mouse monoclonal IgG3; MFF Antibody (B-2) is an IgG3 κ mouse monoclonal MFF antibody (also designated MFF antibody) that detects the MFF protein of mouse, rat and human origin by WB, IP, IF and ELISA. MFF Antibody (B-2) is available as the non-conjugated anti-MFF antibody. MFF (mitochondrial fission factor), also known as GL004, AD030 or AD033, is a 342 amino acid single-pass type IV membrane protein of the mitochondrial outer membrane that belongs to the tango11 family. Involved in mitochondrial and peroxisomal fission, MFF is abundantly expressed in stomach, heart, muscle, liver, brain and kidney. MFF exists as five alternatively spliced isoforms that are encoded by a gene that maps to human chromosome 2q36.3. As the second largest human chromosome, chromosome 2 consists of 237 million bases, encodes over 1,400 genes and makes up approximately 8% of the human genome. A number of genetic diseases are linked to genes on chromosome 2. Harlequin icthyosis, a rare and morbid skin deformity, is associated with mutations in the ABCA12 gene. The lipid metabolic disorder sitosterolemia is associated with ABCG5 and ABCG8. An extremely rare recessive genetic disorder, Alström syndrome, is due to mutations in the ALMS1 gene.
