T2R21 (D-8)

Santa Cruz Biotechnology

DESCRIPTION

mouse monoclonal IgM; T2R21 Antibody (D-8) is an IgM κ mouse monoclonal T2R21 antibody (also designated T2R21 antibody) that detects the T2R21 protein of mouse, rat and human origin by WB, IP, IF and ELISA. T2R21 Antibody (D-8) is available as the non-conjugated anti-T2R21 antibody. T2R21, also known as Tas2r121 (taste receptor, type 2, member 121), mGR21, mT2r48, Tas2r13 or Tas2r21, is a 305 amino acid transmembrane protein belonging to the G-protein coupled receptor T2R family. While it signals through PLC β2 and the calcium-regulated cation channel TRPM5, T2R21 acts as a gustducin-coupled receptor implicated in the perception of bitter compounds in the oral cavity and the gastrointestinal tract. The gene that encodes T2R21 maps to mouse chromosome 6 G1. T2R21 is homologous to human T2R13, a 303 amino acid protein expressed in subsets of taste receptor cells of the tongue and palate epithelium, and is found exclusively in gustducin-positive cells. T2R13 maps to human chromosome 12, which encodes over 1,100 genes and comprises approximately 4.5% of the human genome. Chromosome 12 is associated with a variety of diseases and afflictions, including hypochondrogenesis, achondrogenesis, Kniest dysplasia, Noonan syndrome and Trisomy 12p, which causes facial developmental defects and seizure disorders.
