DESCRIPTION

Lovastatin is potent inhibitor of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase (HMG-CoA reductase) that was initially isolated from A. terreus. It interferes with the production of cholesterol and suppresses TNF-induced NF-kB activation.
