Reaction Biology

Scientist on March 1, 2021

This installment of Supplier Spotlight® is on Reaction Biology, an organization that provides scientists worldwide with a trusted research partner who supports all phases of preclinical drug discovery.

What is your company’s mission?

Since our founding in 2001, we have had one singular obsession: We strive to provide our customers with high quality repeatable data coupled with a personalized and collaborative research experience. We are here to help the drug discovery community find the answers they need to develop the best possible drug candidate for treating patients with cancer and other diseases.

What products and services do you offer?

Reaction Biology provides scientists worldwide with a trusted research partner who supports all phases of preclinical drug discovery from target validation and hit identification to hit-to-lead and lead optimization. Our portfolio covers most drug discovery needs, including biochemical, biophysical and cell-based assays, an extensive array of in vivo oncology models, and custom assay development and protein production.

What problems does your organization solve?

As the go-to CRO for the discovery of kinase inhibitors for over 20 years, we have acquired unparalleled expertise that enables us to successfully complete several thousand kinase inhibitor screening and development projects each year. We couple that with exclusive cell-based kinase assays, so the problem of getting a complete view of a client’s kinase inhibitor performance is solved.

What are the most innovative tools and technologies that you offer?

To properly qualify hits that we received from our gold-standard radiometric screening assays, we provide an array of orthogonal assays such as biophysical SPR and thermal shift screening. Our secondary screening options include cell-based measurement of target engagement and enzymatic activity in intact cells. The opportunity to move compounds through a screening cascade ensures the reliable identification of potent inhibitors. We develop hundreds of new assays each year.

What are your competitive advantages?

In a survey by HTStec of 128 scientists in the kinase profiling business, more than 50% named Reaction Biology their preferred CRO. We have achieved the highest rank for data quality, customer service, technical support and assay format technology. Our smaller size and customer focus ensures a better experience for our clients.

Who are your clients?

We have about 2000 clients in over 50 countries around the world. They include the world’s largest pharmas as well as academic and government labs, plus many smaller biotech and venture backed virtual pharmas.

What new products and services are you developing in 2021?

We are creating a range of assays for the discovery of KRAS pathway inhibitors. We are expanding our subQperior syngeneic mouse models featuring no ulceration and outstanding homogenous tumor growth. We are pairing bioinformatics analysis with our large cell line panel screen to provide a mode of action analysis and information on potential biomarkers — plus, a large special purpose panel that is yet to be announced. Stay tuned!

Where are your laboratories and offices located?

Our offices and laboratories are located in Malvern, PA, US, and Freiburg, Germany.

How has Scientist.com helped your business?

The pharma community consists of more labs and companies than we could ever communicate with on our own. Scientist.com helps us stay in front of this ecosystem of researchers.
