Top 10 High Throughput Screening Services

Labs Explorer on December 20, 2017

High throughput screening (HTS) is an experimentation method widely used in the pharmaceutical industry for drug discovery. Using automation, HTS enables researchers to quickly conduct a large number of chemical, genetic, or pharmacological tests on drug-like compounds. HTS efficiently accelerates the assaying by testing of a large number of potential biological modulators for a compound instead of targeting a chosen set at a time.

The automation system includes several robots which transport the assay-microplates to several stations for sample and reagent addition, mixing, incubation, and readout or detection. Today the most efficient systems can test up to 100,000 compounds per day.

According to the Target Discovery Institute (TDI) of the University of Oxford, HTS brings together expertise in liquid handling and robotic automation, multi-platform plate readers and more recently high content imaging. This combinatorial approach allows the collection of complex and content-rich data in a very short time.

High throughput screening provides a quick investigation for biologically active compounds and its results give a starting point for drug design and the understanding the role of a particular biochemical process. With these result, a library of relevant biological compounds can be rapidly built up and used for further studies.

It often takes time to find the high throughput screening service which corresponds to your needs. Here you can find a selection of services which can be useful for you.
