This installment of Supplier Spotlight® is on ProteoGenex, Inc. – a provider of biological specimens and clinical information.

What is your company’s mission?

ProteoGenex’s mission is to be the leading provider of high-quality, clinically annotated human biological specimen for research. ProteoGenex’s unique and comprehensive biorepository, in conjunction with an extensive network of collection sites, gives researchers unparalleled access to human tissues, blood, fluids, cells and their molecular derivatives.

Describe your company’s most popular service offering.

While ProteoGenex provides biological specimens for all clinical segments, Oncology is by far the largest part of our offering. Within this sector, the most popular areas are Formalin-Fixed Paraffin-Embedded (FFPE) blocks and fresh frozen tissues (FF), with and without matched serum/plasma, as well as Bone Marrow/Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells (BM/PBMCs) from hematological malignancies.

Why should customers use your services? Do you save time, money or provide access to innovation?

ProteoGenex guarantees its biological specimens to be of the highest research quality by using a Quality Control Program that encompasses every specimen from collection and storage through shipment to clients’ laboratories. All specimens are collected from consented donors under IRB/EC approval, using strict and comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). As a testament to quality, ProteoGenex specimens have been used in hundreds of peer-reviewed research publications by scientists on six continents.

ProteoGenex’s extensive inventory and network of established clinical collection sites give remarkable access to specimens from both normal and diseased donors. ProteoGenex works directly with collection sites to maintain rapid request turnaround and the most competitive pricing. ProteoGenex is also uniquely positioned to provide custom collections tailored to clients’ exact specifications, protocols and experimental design, providing truly customized specimens.

What new services, tools or technologies will you be offering over the next biennium?

ProteoGenex’s tissue and fluid biorepository currently boasts over 200,000 unique human biospecimens and is continually growing by the thousands each month. ProteoGenex is actively seeking new clinical sites to expand collection capabilities globally, which will provide extended coverage of normal and diseased populations as well as increased access to fresh tissue and blood specimens.

What is your company doing to remain an industry leader?

In addition to continually growing specimen inventory and collection network, ProteoGenex’s private laboratory and exclusive collection sites enable specimen collection using the newest scientific discoveries and technological developments. ProteoGenex also makes scientific conference attendance a priority in order to stay informed on the industry’s newest advancements.

Whether needing specimen from inventory that is immediately available for research or needing detail-specific experiments requiring reliable and timely prospective collection, ProteoGenex has the collection capabilities and quality-assurance crucial to successful clinical research.
