Ever the modest Kevin Lustig at the SDBJ CEO awards ceremony, pointing out he was selected as a finalist. Later that night to his surprise (but not to ours), he won “most admired” CEO. Congratulations!

The San Diego Business Journal announced today that Scientist CEO, Dr. Kevin Lustig, was awarded the Most Admired CEO for a small privately held company. Now in its seventh year, the award recognizes CEOs who excel in guiding their organizations to success while creating vibrant, productive environments for their staffs. Winners were honored at the annual event in December at Paradise Point Resort & Spa and were featured in a special edition of the publication.

“The Most Admired CEO award recognizes San Diego leaders whose contributions to their company and community have led to innovative solutions to some of the greatest challenges facing a range of industries,” said Amon Mills, president and publisher, San Diego Business Journal. “Kevin’s vision of transforming scientific research by improving access to research tools and experts has eliminated many of the barriers to scientific innovation. In addition, his commitment to fostering the next generation of scientists in our community is a demonstration of not only his leadership, but his passion for science.”

Scientist, the pharmaceutical industry’s leading marketplace for scientific services, was founded by Lustig in 2007. Often referred to as the “Amazon.com for scientists,” Scientist has developed the first and only cloud-based drug research platform that allows researchers to locate research services from qualified vendors quickly, efficiently and at no cost.
