Vala Sciences offers high content phenotypic screening services, specializing in hiPSC-based models of human cardiac and central nervous system diseases. Vala’s automated screening platform, the Kinetic Image Cytometer (KIC®), works with Vala’s CyteSeer® data analysis software to resolve billions of single-cell data points from fixed and live cells. Our big-data approach provides new insights into disease biology and delivers the highest in vitro predictivity of human clinical responses to drugs.
Vala partners with biotech and pharmaceutical companies to develop disease modeling, drug discovery, and preclinical efficacy and safety toxicology screens in the following areas:
Adult mammalian and hiPSC-cardiomyocyte (healthy and patient-derived cells) calcium flux, contractility, mitochondrial
membrane potential, and voltage action potentials to generate single-cell optical electrophysiology and cardiotoxicity
readouts
hiPSC-neuron (healthy and patient-derived cells) calcium and voltage transients, neurite morphology and synapse density,
and neurotoxicity endpoints
hiPSC-microglia morphology, phagocytosis, and neuronal co-cultures
Adipogenesis and lipolysis
Apoptosis, autophagy, mitochondrial function, and other cell health readouts
Protein biomarker expression in subcellular compartments (nuclei, membranes, organelles)
