The quality, speed and cost of generating and analyzing genomic data is increasingly crucial to researchers as they seek to develop personalized treatments for complex diseases like cancer and heart disease. The genomics core facility at Sunnybrook Research Institute (SRI), under the directorship of Dr. Arun Seth, makes cutting-edge genomics research not only possible, but also affordable.
The genomics core facility is a centralized resource equipped with a range of next-generation instruments.
Next-generation DNA sequencing:
SOLiD 5500XL
Ion Torrent Personal Genome Machine
Nucleic acid quantification:
Digital Droplet PCR system
Real-time PCR system
We deliver cost-effective and high-quality services and are continually updating and expanding our services to keep up with advances in technology and its applications. Our facility is open to the SRI community as well as to investigators from external institutions. We also provide opportunities for SRI research fellows, graduate students and residents to gain experience and training. We encourage collaborative opportunities with investigators on research projects and support investigators’ grant applications.
