The Center for Advanced Proteomics Analyses is a nationally-funded research and core facility equipment located at the Université de Montréal / Institute for Research in Immunology and Cancer. CAPA builds upon multi-disciplinary expertise in protein chemistry, bioanalytical mass spectrometry and systems biology to provide a wide range of protein analyses to Canadian researchers. This technological platform has been in operation since 2005, and gradually expanded its proteomics services in response to increasing demands for trace-level protein identification and targeted analyses requiring advanced instrumentation and analytical approaches. The facility is under the direction of Drs. P. Thibault and M. Tyers who are assisted by a team of specialists in protein purification and separation, mass spectrometry, and bioinformatics.
The facility is equipped with leading-edge mass spectrometry (MS) instrumentation with ancillary liquid chromatography (LC) and electrophoresis equipment. Different proteomics analyses are presently offered by the facility and include protein identification of gel-isolated samples , intact protein analyses, identification of protein modifications (e.g. phosphorylation, ubiquitin-like modifiers), peptides associated with major histocompatibility complex class I (MHC I) and quantitative proteomics analyses.
