The University of Groningen (legal entity) on behalf of the Electron Microscopy Unit (service provider) offers academic research collaboration and facility service jobs. The electron microscopy unit (hereinafter the Academic Core Facility / Labaratory) established 2017) headed by Alexander Belly (formerly Cristina Paulino) is located at the Groningen Biomolecular Sciences and Biotechnology Institute (GBB) in the Faculty of Science and Engineering of the University of Groningen. PLEASE NOTE: The Electron Microscopy Unit is the only department of the University working via this platform.
Electron microscopy services include: negative stain and cryo-EM screening of (protein) samples and high-resolution data acquisition, image processing and consulting. The group is specialised in the high-resolution determination of small (membrane) protein structures by single-particle cryo-EM.
The facility further offers sample preparation tools and a dedicated high-end Talos Arctica cryo-TEM equipped with an auto-loader, K2 summit DDD camera, energy filter and a phase plate and includes automated data recording software and on-the-fly data quality assessments tools.
