The Proteomics Core Facility (PCF) was established in 2001, is since 2006 part of the Sahlgrenska Academy and from 2016 one of the nodes for biological mass spectrometry (MS) supported by the Swedish Research Council.
We use nano-LC separation interfaced to high-resolution MS for protein and peptide analysis in medical and life science research. Proteomics is the study of proteins by identification, quantification and characterization of material from extracts, cells, media, tissues, organs and body liquids.
PCF has expertise in sample preparation, affinity enrichment, design of customized projects and evaluation of the results. We are involved in about 200 projects per year and teach a course for Ph.D. students.
We provide knowledge to explore protein function, expression, post-translational modifications (e.g. phosphorylation or glycosylation), protein interaction analysis, monitoring of biological processes and biomarker discovery.
