Laboratory Animal Medicine/Management of Nonhuman Primates
Description Experience:
Students
participate in outdoor rounds (health surveillance of NHP large
colonies), which include physical exams, diagnostic procedures (TB
tests), abdominal ultrasounds, administration of medications, etc.
Students participate in hospital triage, working with veterinarians
and veterinary technicians clinical/surgical cases arriving to hospital
areas.
Students particpate in necropsy procedures, laboratory procedures (fecal exams, blood works, etc)
They also learn about some procedures associated with research (i.e. bone marrow aspirates, CSF taps, sample collections, etc)
