For thousands of patients across the country, the efforts of the Sutter Institute for Medical Research (SIMR) have made life-saving differences.
Since 1959, SIMR has participated in hundreds of investigative studies resulting in significant medical advances in diagnosis, treatment and prevention of health conditions affecting patients of all ages.
Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento established SIMR to join together active, practicing physicians with study sponsors and provide administrative support that facilitates research. By bringing research to one of Northern California’s most highly respected community hospital systems, SIMR plays an important role in medical research.
Because of SIMR, many people are able to take part in national studies aimed at finding new and better ways to treat their conditions. SIMR supports Sutter doctors actively involved in patient care who also want to improve the care available by taking part in research studies. These busy physicians depend on SIMR to help them manage the time-consuming administrative requirements involved in any research project.
Research physicians come from Sutter Health’s extensive physician network and operate through four hospitals in the Sacramento-Sierra region. The hospitals include Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento (including Sutter General and Sutter Memorial Hospitals), Sutter Roseville Medical Center, Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital and Sutter Davis Hospital and Sutter Medical Foundation.
