Our lab provides fee-for-service studies in the areas of drug discovery for Cystic Fibrosis and COPD. We perform studies on primary cultures of human bronchial epithelial (hBE) cells and primary human nasal (hNE) cells. We also use a number of different epithelial cell lines expressing various CFTR and ENaC mutations. Our studies are focused on functional read-out of CFTR and ENaC channel activity and include short current measurements (Isc), equivalent current measurements (Ieq), transepithelial impedance analysis, airway surface liquid height, mucoliliary clearance (MCC or MCT) and ciliary beat frequency. We evaluate the efficacy of compounds for our clients in our primary airway cell models.
