Rogers Imaging houses the nonprofit federally funded research facility, BioInnovations Institute, created from the BioMedical Imaging Laboratory, Harvard School of Public Health, Boston. We support basic, applied, clinical research and discovery in life sciences associated with academic, biotech and pharmaceutical industries.
An important component of the facility is a CyTOF mass cytometer. Mass cytometry has catalyzed the revolution of single-cell proteomics, enabling the most comprehensive understanding of cell phenotypes, signaling pathways and function for new drug development and clinical trial research.
Mass Cytometry offers a system-level view with single-cell resolution obtained from millions of data points from a few milliliters of blood or tissue samples. Cellular targets are labeled with metal-tagged antibodies, detected, and quantified by time-of-flight mass spectrometry to enable breakthrough discovery and comprehensive functional profiling applications:
