Advancing Veteran and public health through innovative research is the mission of the Palo Alto Veterans Institute for Research (PAVIR). The range of research activities is broad and includes special emphasis on:

Cardiovascular medicine
Cancer
Mental health – including Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Chronic inflammatory disease
Stem cell/regenerative medicine
Genomic medicine is a major overarching interest in our pursuit of health improvements for Veterans. We believe that advances in genomics will make personalized medicine a reality. We also support various educational instruction or other learning experiences of benefit to employees and veterans.
