Academic Core Facility

The Wild Carnivore Facility is part of the NCSU Teaching Animal Unit. It provides DVM students with practical hands on experience providing husbandry and health management of captive wild carnivores to prepare them for future careers working with these species. The three pups in the picture are now healthy young wolves. Major efforts by students in the summer of 2015 upgraded the Wild Carnivore Facility with a new husbandry shed and improved gate access. You can read about those efforts in our news section. Read about the start of construction, framing progress and the dedication of the finished shed.
