The main objective of the NHSGGC Bio-repository is to help facilitate medical research by streamlining the access to tissue and associated clinical data. This involves not only successful acquisition and curation of samples, it involves supporting activity to ensure our patients are given the opportunity to donate surplus tissue for research, increasing the scope of surplus tissue made available for research i.e. surplus blood and other body fluids, streamlining the access process for research end users and making best use of existing and developing NHS IT infrastructure to support and continually develop our processes and procedures.
