Improve human health by conducting and translating innovative, interdisciplinary biomedical research in partnership with the University of Wisconsin-Madison and others, by leveraging our collective strengths in research and education.
The Morgridge Institute for Research grew from the remarkable vision of UW-Madison alumni John and Tashia Morgridge. The Morgridges recognized an independent research institute would provide UW-Madison with innovative new ways to conduct biomedical research and educate the community.
Drawing inspiration from Stanford’s revolutionary Bio-X Program, which brings together researchers from diverse backgrounds, John believed a similar initiative at Wisconsin would spark new collaborations, create new paths of inquiry in biomedical research, and help UW–Madison stay competitive. Tashia also envisioned the building fostering unique educational opportunities for the community, from K-12 students to lifelong learners.
