The Animal Health Center (AHC) is open to the public, and serves as a referral and primary care center for companion animals, horses, and livestock in the region. Over 29,000 small animals, exotics, wildlife, horses and livestock animals are seen annually in the teaching hospitals. We provide our clients with advanced care, support and state-of-the-art treatment, as well as a small animal intensive care unit. We also work closely with referring veterinarians to keep them updated on the clients they refer to the AHC. This provides continuity for our clients and most importantly, helps ensure that treatment plans are well understood and followed.
The AHC is the clinical service unit of our college. It serves as the primary focus for clinical instruction of veterinary students and provides postgraduates opportunity for expanded study as they complete internships or residencies. The advantage is that students get premier learning opportunities and clients get the student advantage – our students keep clients informed regularly on their pets’ care and treatment, they are also available to give that extra attention to your pet.
