Miami University is committed to the ethical use of animals in research, teaching, and testing. All interactions with and provisions for the care of animals by Miami personnel or on property controlled by the university must be approved by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC).

In compliance with federal regulations, the IACUC members are appointed by the University President and are charged with assuring that Miami is in compliance with all applicable provisions of Public Health Service Policy, the Animal Welfare Act, and other relevant Federal statutes and regulations.
