We are leading the worldwide fight against blinding eye disease through our unique model — uniting the world’s largest Eye Bank, our cutting-edge Ocular Research Center, and our Foundation together to create the leading institution for ocular science. We are advocates for the 45 million blind and visually impaired people across the globe, and our mission is to improve their vision and quality of life, and ultimately end blindness.
Our organization is the only one of its kind, combining an ocular research center with the largest eye bank in the world. Our eye bank provides eye tissue for research and transplantation to ophthalmic specialists and surgeons nationwide. Because every second counts from donor to lab, we’ve successfully created a new model that reduces precious time previously lost, thus dramatically improving advancements in ocular research.
Our ocular research center is a one-of-a-kind model. It is the first and only combined eye bank and ocular research center in the world. Our research center empowers researchers to conduct real-time studies of healthy and diseased ocular tissue. This breakthrough model answers a critical need by providing normal and diseased human eye tissue to advance our understanding of events that lead to blindness. We collaborate with industry and leading institutions to develop a new pre-clinical research model offering unparalleled quality and volumes of human ocular tissue and unique research facilities for pharmaceutical or medical device studies.
