Laboratory ECCA was established in 1980 by Dr. Frank Benijts as one of the first private and independent labs in Flanders. The original business model was based on ecotoxicological and chemical analyses, a combination that Frank Benijts had come to know during his studies in the United States. Soon, however, the European market appeared to have different needs and the range of analyses was extended with food analyses.
