In 2007, two inventive Canadian scientists, Dr. Margaret Bywater–Ekegärd and Ananda Lynn Fitzsimmons, formed Inocucor™ Technologies to study new ways to solve the problems facing agriculture through a holistic lens.
They reasoned that biological systems, which are by nature comprised of thousands of diverse microorganisms, could be made more productive through the addition of multiple fungi, yeasts and bacteria that work in harmony to create quality plants and soils. Depleted soils could be revitalized, resulting in hardy, more productive plants.
The long-term quality of the entire phyto-microbiome—the seed, the plant, the soil and the micro-environment directly surrounding the plant—would improve, leading to increased agricultural yields.
Their research efforts led them to Inocucor’s first-generation product, Garden Solution™, which employs live microbes to actively improve the quality of the entire phyto-microbiome. Garden Solution has been produced since 2010 at Inocucor’s pilot facility in Frelighsburg, near Montreal, Quebec. The company anticipates relocating its manufacture of Garden Solution to a new facility as part of its optimization and scale-up program in the future. Inocucor’s new R&D and cGMP production laboratories in Technoparc Montreal will be used for the pilot production of its second- and third-generation products for bio-stimualtion and bio-protection.
Inocucor’s second- and third-generation products are microbial cell-free biological solutions, rather than live microbial-based solutions. As they are developed over the next two to three years, they promise to offer powerful solutions for bio-stimulation and bio-protection to mainstream production farmers.
