The mission of Hesperos, Inc. is to accelerate drug discovery through the use of our Human-on-a-Chip® to provide safety and efficacy data of novel therapeutics for the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and food industries. This breakthrough technology brings unprecedented insight into how the human body will respond to new drugs enabling development of treatments for every disease while eliminating the need for animal testing. These services allow research teams to determine how the human body will respond when new drug compounds are introduced – something that previously required costly animal testing and human trials to determine.

Hesperos’ Human-on-a-Chip is an interconnected, reconfigurable, multi-organ in vitro platform reproducing the functional aspects of human physiology. This breakthrough technology enables unprecedented preclinical insight into disease states and whether a novel compound will be safe and effective for treatment in humans.

The low-volume, serum-free, pumpless platform enables evaluation of both parent compounds and their metabolite. This includes single drug treatments and drug-drug combinations in the same model allowing PK and PD extrapolation to in vivo outcomes.

The platform is equipped with bioelectromechanical devices that non-invasively monitor functional changes to organs as compounds are introduced, metabolized, and excreted. These devices measure both the electrical and mechanical changes of cardiac, skeletal muscle, and neuronal tissues, producing real-time assessment of the functional changes of organs in response to treatments for up to 28 days.

The flexible system is easily reconfigured depending on the application, such as: reproducing (and treating) specific disease states, evaluating various drug delivery methods (IV, oral, topical), and investigating both the acute and chronic effects of a given compound.

Operating as a CRO, Hesperos offers compound safety and efficacy testing services using the Human-on-a-Chip platform.
