In 2002, Guangdong Laboratory Animals Monitoring Institute became a separate legal entity, which was directly subordinate to Guangdong Provincial Science & Technology Department. Guangdong Laboratory Animals Monitoring Institute is an unique statutory quality supervision agency in Guangdong province.
Presently, there are 36 research specialist staff in our Institute, including 6 doctors, 17 masters. They are respectively engaged in the study of zoology, cell biology, molecular biology, microbiology, veterinary biomedicine and so on. Furthermore, our Institute have a series of professional testing laboratories, including heredity, nutrition, microbe, pathology, epidemic, which assure the reliability of the system of laboratory animal detection. Also, our institute successively completed national and provincial research projects, and accessed to science and technology awards.
In addition to the governmental detection task, we also focused on the study of disease animal models and related detection methods. Until now, we have established the model of rhesus monkey senile dementia, the coronavirus mouse model, the mouse model of avian flu, the rhesus monkey model of tb and so on. Recently, in cooperation with Chinese Academy of Sciences, we studied the mouse model of Candida parapsilosis infection and interactive antifungal drugs, and the results had been published on Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences USA, 2007, 104(11),4606-4611.
