The mission of the AND Institute is to improve the lives and address the needs of adolescents and adults with autism as they transition into adulthood. AND Institute’s affiliated GW faculty members demonstrate their interest through their research, lectures, presentations, clinical application, and publications concerning autism and/or neurodevelopmental disorders in the areas of (but not limited to):
Transition services and training for adolescents and adults with autism and their families
Epidemiology and cross‐cultural studies in autism and neurodevelopmental disorders
Cognitive development, including executive function and comparative cognition
Special education with a focus on autism and developmental disorders
Educational and health policy issues, including screening, intervention, disparities, and financing
Autism law, with GW currently offering the only autism-specific law course in the country
