The EI-FLEX is a single-molecule fluorescence spectrometer for single molecule FRET (smFRET), fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS) and fluorescence cross-correlation spectroscopy (FCCS). We have simplified single molecule processes to deliver easy-to-use bench-top equipment that will complement and enhance your existing techniques.
Key applications include: Protein and nucleic acid interaction analysis; Fast conformational dynamics; Biophysics and life-science discoveries; Drug development and diagnostics.
smFRET and FCS are increasingly important tools to address fundamental questions about biological processes, including protein conformation dynamics, ion channel dynamics, DNA repair and maintenance, interactions between receptors and ligands, and membrane transport. These processes make up several aspects that are crucial to understand when investigating solutions within health research. Single molecule results remove ensemble averages, giving a true view of how your molecule is acting under specific conditions. The EI-FLEX detects molecules in confocal solution, meaning the molecule can act as it does in nature without being adhered to a surface and negates the need for multi-step slide preparation.
Exciting Instruments Ltd is a joint venture, built in Sheffield, stemming from the software brains of Bulldozer Ltd and the single-molecule expertise of Dr Timothy Craggs. As a true partnership of science and software, we also provide accessible software that can visualise your results in real time, analyse data and produce publication standard figures, and save all data and user details to the cloud.
