The Flow Cytometry Core at the Emory Vaccine Center makes the highly versatile technology of Flow Cytometry available to the EVC and the Emory Community. The mission of the Flow Core is to provide sorting, analysis, experiment consultation, and instrument training. There are several instruments through out the EVC ranging from simple analog analyzers to digital sorters/analyzers. Analytical flow cytometry is used by the researcher to determine characteristics of subsets of cells or even single cells. Cell sorting is provided for both Bio-Safety level 2 and Bio-Safety level 3 samples. Sorting of cells is useful in the characterization of a particular subset of cells. These cells can then be manipulated in various ways by the investigator for a multitude of purposes.
