We are a leading provider of market research and consultancy services in the crop protection and biotechnology sectors. As part of Wood Mackenzie, we introduced our first product, the Agrochemical Service, in 1977. The Service went on to become the foremost source of data and analyses on the global agrochemical industry. Since the middle of the 1990s, the Service has also covered the commercial aspects of the rapidly expanding agricultural biotechnology sector. In 1994, we expanded our offerings with the introduction of a suite of databases, which complement the Service by offering a detailed sales breakdown on all aspects of the crop protection market. We also provide a range of strategic consultancy services, utilising our deep foundation of knowledge to offer advice to the industry and associated organisations.
The Cropnosis business has had a varied history under the ownership of Wood Mackenzie. Originally a stockbroking firm, Wood Mackenize was acquired by the NatWest Bank Group in 1988. In 1998, the business, together with the Equities division, was sold to Bankers Trust International. Banker’s Trust was in turn acquired by Deutsche Bank in 1999. At the end of 2001, Wood Mackenzie regained its independence via an employee buyout. As an extension of this, the crop protection division was bought by its staff on 1st August 2003 and transferred to an independent company named Cropnosis.
As a totally independent company, focussed only on crop protection and biotechnology, Cropnosis is more able to service changing industry needs. At the same time, we aim to maintain the market leadership and high standard of quality for which we are renowned.
