The Molecular Biotechnology (MBT) Core offers consultation and services in the areas of customized peptide synthesis, peptide modification, purification and quality analysis. The Core also offers CD Spectroscopy and biomolecular interaction analysis and equilibrium and kinetic measurements using Biacore 3000 and Isothermal Titration Calorimetry.
The MBT core provides a wide range of high quality services in areas of peptide synthesis, surface plasmon resonance and other biophysical technologies. The core has a microwave based peptide synthesizer (Liberty, CEM Inc.) and an Omega 396 multiple peptide synthesizer. Biomolecular interactions are quantified using Biacore 3000, while isothermal titration calometer (iTC 200) is used for measuring the thermodynamic parameters (kinetics. enthalpy, entropy and number of binding sites)of biomolecular interactions. Jasco 815 CD spectrophotometer is capable for analysis of secondary structure of proteins in solution and protein folding and confirmation changes. The Core also oversees the Storm 820 phosphor imager.
