Cellesce is a UK-based biotech CDMO with a global leadership position in the scale-up and manufacturing of Patient-Derived Organoids (PDOs) for use in drug discovery and development.

We have developed a novel bioprocess workflow utilising unique bioreactors for scaled up and controlled manufacture of patient derived organoids (PDOs) and xenograft derived organoids (PDX-Os) for their use in high throughput applications earlier in drug discovery.

Cellesce is already a revenue generating company. The main projects we are currently executing for customers including large pharma, biotechs and organ-on-chip organisations include:

• Scale up of high quality PDOs that we have commercially available within our PDO product portfolio.
• Scale up of high quality PDOs or PDX derived organoids that our clients have generated or sourced through biobanks.
• Source, develop and validation of new PDO or PDX-O lines from particular tissues or patient donors which are bioprocess-expanded by Cellesce for our client’s specific research projects.
  Examples of end uses include applications such as organ-on-a-chip, high throughput compound screening, 3D high content imaging, CRISPR studies and leveraging organoids with other cells in complex in-vitro assays such as I/O.

We are also implementing organoid quality systems, as a key step change from the current organoid ecosystem predominantly still in academia. These QC/QA measures allow Cellesce to continue to develop the processes that ensure that our final PDO products we manufacture are reproducible and consistent, biologically fit for purpose, “gold standard” research tools that can support the increasing quality demands from customers and the wider regulatory environment as we industrialise and pioneer the use of biorelevant organoids in high throughput drug discovery and development by large pharma and biotechs.
