This CLIA – approved core provides small molecule analytical and pharmacokinetic data reduction services for non-cancer related clinical trials and pre-clinical studies. The core houses high performance liquid chromatographs with spectrophotometric, fluorimetric, and mass spectrometric detectors. This equipment facilitates selective, sensitive, and accurate quantitation of small molecules such as drugs, drug metabolites, and metabolic intermediates (done in conjunction with the Center for Inherited Disorders of Energy Metabolism at UHHC). The staff modifies methods from existing literature or develops new analytical methodology as required. They provide advice concerning optimal sampling schedules and collection – time sample treatment for clinical pharmacokinetics trials, and they carry out rigorous pharmacokinetics analysis and modeling of data from those trials. The core also can assist investigators by providing basic feasibility data for use in grant proposal preparation.
