Academic Core Facility

The Protein/Peptide Micro Analytical Laboratory (PPMAL) is a resource facility whose principal activities include the characterization of proteins, peptides, nucleotides and other small molecules with HPLC separation and mass spectrometric techniques. It also conducts direct N-terminal sequence analysis of proteins with Edman degradation.

The facility is equipped with an Applied Biosystems quadrupole time-of-flight QstarXL, a Voyager-DE STR MALDI time-of-flight, and a PE Sciex API 365 triple quadrupole mass spectrometers. Other instrumentation includes an Applied Biosystems Procise cLC Protein Sequencer and an Eksigent 2D nano flow LC system.

The facility also does proteomics-related method development, for example, the fast trypsin digestion of proteins.
