In the U.S. alone, more than 100 million people suffer from chronic pain.* Chronic pain is frequently resistant to treatment with either anti-inflammatory drugs or opiates.
Scientists at the Burke Medical Research Institute are actively involved in pain research, pursuing new concepts to better understand how chronic pain establishes itself after trauma or disease, and to develop novel therapeutic approaches to improve the lives of pain patients. We have established the Center for Pain and Sensory Recovery at Burke Medical Research Institute to focus, grow and optimally deploy our expertise in both basic and clinical pain research.
Burke Medical Research Institute is an academic affiliate of the Weill Medical College of Cornell University.
