The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry’s mass spectrometry lab facilities are heavily used by students and faculty to identify molecules. The molecules identified are primarily organic, although the ToF-SIMS instrument located in the mass spectrometry core is also used to identify some inorganic molecules. In addition to the mass spectrometry core located in C270 BNSN, the department has a mass spectrometry lab in E130 BNSN, with additional instruments located in C354 and C231 BNSN.
