Bowling Green State University is at the western end of Lake Erie, and in close proximity to remnant oak-savanna prairies (Oak Openings Region) and fragmented forest-agroecosytem complexes.

The Biology department also has an Ecology Research Station, which is 15 enclosed acres with aquatic and terrestrial areas for research and teaching just north of the BG airport at 16750 Mercer Rd. Shown below are some additional pictures taken at the field station.
