The principal tunnel used for research is a closed-circuit, single-return, low-speed wind tunnel with a 3 ft by 4.25 ft test section in which the flow speed may be varied from 0 to approximately 140 mph. Different types of mounting hardware and balances are available, including floor mounted with a six degree-of freedom balance and angle of attack control, and sting-mounted with a three degree-of-freedom balance.
