Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago Mass Spectrometry Laboratory

The clinical mass spectrometry laboratory develops assays employing liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) for the analysis of small molecules used in a variety of clinical applications where multiplexed analyses of superior analytical sensitivity and specificity are required. This includes endocrinology, therapeutic drug monitoring, inborn errors of metabolism and kidney function. This laboratory also measures lead in whole blood by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry. We support the research and academic missions of the institution through participation in clinical research and in the education of fellows, residents, medical students, and medical technology students.
