Privacy Policy

November 10, 2015

We constructed this Privacy Policy because at Assay Depot we recognize that your privacy is important, and we want you to know how and why we gather information about you. This policy applies to customers of all of the services and products offered on the Assay Depot Marketplace (collectively called “services”).

What types of customer information do we collect?

We offer the ability to browse services and associated technical information without requiring you to register for an account. If you register for an account in order to access our full range of services, we may collect the following types of information:

  • Information you directly provide: We receive and store any information you enter on our website (such as your name, email address and password) or give us in any other way. We use the information that you do provide for such purposes as responding to your requests, customizing future shopping for you, offering services to you based on your shopping history, communicating with you, and improving our website and services. If you provide us with your feedback about services you have purchased, we may choose to display your feedback, in part or whole, on the marketplace and it may be viewed by others visiting the website.
  • Information we receive when you use our website(s): We receive and store certain types of information whenever you interact with us. For example, like many websites, we send one or more "cookies," to your computer that uniquely identifies your browser. Examples of the information we collect and analyze include the Internet protocol (IP) address used to connect your computer to the Internet; login information; e-mail address; password; computer and connection information such as browser type and version, time zone setting, operating system and platform; the full Uniform Resource Locator (URL) clickstream to, through, and from our website, including date and time, cookie number, and services you viewed, searched for, or purchased. We also use cookies to store user preferences and track user trends. During some visits we may use software tools such as JavaScript to measure and collect session information, including page response times, download errors, length of visits to certain pages, page interaction information (such as scrolling, clicks, and mouse-overs), and methods used to browse away from the page. We also may use browser tools such as cookies or Flash cookies (also known as Flash Local Shared Objects) for fraud prevention and other purposes

Do we share customer information?

We share customer information only with subsidiaries Assay Depot controls that are subject to this Privacy Policy or that follow practices at least as protective as those described in this Privacy Policy or as described below:

  • Service provider you have selected: We work closely with the service provider you choose to complete your order for services. Unless you opt out during the online checkout process, we may share information relating to your transaction with the service provider.
  • Third-party services: We employ other companies and individuals to perform functions on our behalf. Examples include delivering packages, sending postal mail and email, providing marketing assistance, and processing credit card payments. Third-party service providers have access to personal information needed to perform their functions, but they may not use it for other purposes.
  • Business transfers: As we continue to develop our business, we might sell or buy subsidiaries or business units. In such transactions, customer information generally is one of the transferred business assets but remains subject to the promises made in any pre-existing Privacy Policy. In the event that Assay Depot or substantially all of its assets are acquired, customer information will be one of the transferred assets.
  • Protection of Assay Depot and others: We release account and other personal information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law; to enforce our online User Agreement and other agreements; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Assay Depot, our users, or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organizations for fraud protection and credit risk reduction. This does not include selling, renting, sharing, or otherwise disclosing personally identifiable information from customers for commercial purposes in violation of the commitments set forth in this Privacy Policy.

What choices do customers have concerning information collection and sharing?

  • Customer information non-disclosure: You can decline to submit personal information to Assay Depot, although this may prevent us from providing certain services to you.
  • Enablement of cookies: The Help portion of the toolbar on most browsers will tell you how to prevent your browser from accepting new cookies, how to have the browser notify you when you receive a new cookie, or how to disable cookies altogether. Additionally, you can disable or delete similar data used by browser add-ons, such as Flash cookies, by changing the add-on's settings or visiting the website of its manufacturer. Because cookies allow you to take advantage of many of our website’s essential features, we recommend that you leave them turned on. For instance, if you block or otherwise reject our cookies, you will not be able to add items to your shopping cart, proceed to checkout, or use services that require you to sign in.
  • Customer anonymity: You can decline to have us share specific customer information to the service provider you have chosen to perform your services.
  • Changing or deleting customer information: When you use the marketplace, Assay Depot will provide you with access to your personal information and either correct this data if it is inaccurate or delete such data at your request, if it is not otherwise required to be retained by law or for legitimate business purposes. When you update information, we usually keep a copy of the prior version for our records.
  • With your consent: Other than as set out above, you will receive notice when information about you might go to third parties, and you will have an opportunity to opt-out or choose not to share the information.

What do we do to ensure the security of customer information?

Ensuring the security of our customer information is an important part of our business. We take appropriate security measures to protect against unauthorized access to or unauthorized alteration, disclosure or destruction of data. We restrict access to customer information to Assay Depot employees, contractors and agents who need to know that information in order to operate, develop or improve our services. These individuals are bound by confidentiality obligations and may be subject to discipline, including criminal prosecution, if they fail to meet these obligations.

  • Secure software: We work to protect the security of your information during transmission by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software, which encrypts information you input.
  • Credit card safeguards: Although we transmit the entire credit card number to the appropriate credit card company during order processing, we only reveal the last five digits of your credit card number when confirming an order.
  • Unauthorized access: It is important for you to protect against unauthorized access to your password and to your computer. Be sure to sign off from your account when finished using a shared computer.
