  • Availability: 2 weeks
  • Bio Background: This gene encodes a transcription factor that is a memberof the leucine zipper family of DNA binding proteins. This proteinbinds to the cAMP-responsive element (CRE), an octamericpalindrome. The protein forms a homodimer or heterodimer with c-Junand stimulates CRE-dependent transcription. The protein is also ahistone acetyltransferase (HAT) that specifically acetylateshistones H2B and H4 in vitro; thus it may represent a class ofsequence-specific factors that activate transcription by directeffects on chromatin components. Additional transcript variantshave been identified but their biological validity has not beendetermined.
